R+T 2006: elero launches water-resistant façade drive Poessneck, January 2005 – Combining rain and eaves: this step poses no problems with the new linear actuator Picolo IP65. The slim drive is equipped with a special stainless steel casing which remains water-resistant even during the heaviest showers. Up to now, the façade drives from elero were already weather resistant and immune to rain, but only if they were installed with the piston rod facing downwards as stipulated in the design specifications. In the case of the Picolo IP65, however, the installation position can be freely selected. It can be horizontal or vertical, and the piston rod can even be installed facing upwards. This is particularly necessary when the drive has to open and close external windows and shutters.
A slim drive with multiple uses
In addition to fulfilling the technical requirements of modern façade architecture, the Picolo also meets existing aesthetic demands. Despite the torque of 1,200 Newton metres, the push rod actuator’s casing diameter is only 48 millimetres. Thanks to the slim design, the Picolo blends inconspicuously into any façade. In addition to driving ventilation slats, the Picolo can also be used for the precise positioning of glass, aluminium or stainless steel sun protection slats. Furthermore, it is possible to position photovoltaic panels. A certified Picolo version for use with smoke and heat ventilation systems is also available.
